What is CNC laser cutting?

When it comes to CNC technology (Computerized Numerically Controlled), it is a completely mechanical control system. This technology was born in the late 1940s and early 1950s, and is used for fully automatic control and operation of mechanical processing machines.CNC laser cutting is a method of applying CNC technology to cut metal panels in any direction under the control of computer software. The most commonly used laser machines are 2D cutting machines that can only cut on one plane. However, as technology develops more and more modernly like today, CNC machines can also cut in 3-dimensional space to create more unique and diverse products.

 

Operating principle of metal laser cutting method

  • First, you must prepare complete drawings and billets with the required thickness and size. Then move the workpiece into the correct position, set the drawing into the Laser machine system
  • From the cutter head, a high-energy laser beam will be emitted to a point on the workpiece. Thanks to the lens system, large heat will be generated to melt the material at that point.
  • With high pressure, the laser beams will push the molten part out of the workpiece and into the bottom of the machine frame.
  • The laser head moves according to the pre-set drawing, creating shapes, motifs, patterns, letters… as required.
