3D printing technology in mechanics
Currently, the application of 3D printing technology is popular in the world, not only helping Vietnam stay ahead of the trend but also changing design thinking in the domestic mechanical industry. At the conference Metal 3D printing technology: From potential to actual application for professional production in Vietnam. In the past, design thinking was often limited because of technology and manufacturing materials. According to the traditional method, designers need to make many blocks, many details and assemble them into parts, making design and testing complicated and difficult to evaluate the product.

With new 3D printing technology, it is possible to form blocks right during manufacturing, reducing the number of components needed for a part, saving time and costs to create the product. In other words, 3D printing technology helps design no longer be limited by manufacturing materials, so it can create a new design thinking for the Vietnamese mechanical industry.

Another reason can be mentioned is the issue of saving raw materials. With the traditional method, the material is created in block form and using cutting techniques to create the necessary shape. Thus, the amount of excess metal in this process will be very large. But with 3D printing technology, components are created from the beginning with pre-designed shapes, both saving raw materials and reducing the mass of the part.
